Varen Zeeland - How a landing page per trip doubled organic traffic
varenzeeland.nl
121% more organic clicks, with tour landing pages outperforming the homepage

Success Story: Varen Zeeland
- Company: Varen Zeeland
- Industry: Tourism / luxury yacht charter and boat trips
- Location: Netherlands
- Use case: Seasonal tourism SEO across a range of very different trip types
About Varen Zeeland
Varen Zeeland charters Amelia, one of the largest yachts in Zeeland, with a crew that handles everything on board: the route, the harbour, the catering and the safety. The offer spans multi-day trips with a bed and breakfast experience on the water, day trips, and culinary sailing built around what comes out of the Zeeland waters: lobster, mussels and oysters, including trips where guests watch the lobster being caught.
It is booked for weekends away with friends and family, bachelor parties, birthdays and business guests, and the yacht also sails across to Belgium. Day trips from Yerseke, including seal spotting and mussel tours, round out the range.
The Challenge
Every one of those trips is a different search. Someone looking for a seal safari near Yerseke and someone looking for a multi-day trip with an overnight stay on board are not the same customer, and neither of them is well served by a general homepage.
The site was averaging position 35.1, which is page four. It was collecting more than 60,000 impressions across six months and converting only 1.51% of them.
Seasonality made it harder to read. Traffic naturally peaks in summer and collapses in winter, so a raw before-and-after comparison can flatter or hide the real trend.
The Solution
The approach was to stop making one page do all the work:
- A dedicated landing page for each tour type, matched to how people search for it
- Content built around specific long-tail phrases such as multi-day boat trips in the Netherlands and boat trips with lunch
- Deliberate attention to off-season searches, when people research and plan rather than book same-week
- Search Console tracking per page so the strongest performers could be developed further
The Results
Comparing the six months to August 2026 against the six before it:
- Organic clicks up 121%, from 929 to 2,049
- Impressions up 37%, from 61,666 to 84,396
- Average position improved from 35.1 to 28.3
- Click-through rate up from 1.51% to 2.43%, a 61% relative improvement
Because the business is seasonal, the month-by-month view is the honest one. September 2025 brought 281 clicks; August 2026 brought 390, and July 2026 peaked at 463. The off-season improved as well, which matters more: the November 2025 trough was 94 clicks, and every month from March 2026 onwards stayed above 200.
The landing page strategy is visible in the results. The Yerseke tour page now earns 567 clicks, well ahead of the homepage at 398, and the mussel tour page adds 223. Pages for overnight boat trips, luxury yacht charter, lunch cruises, day trips and culinary tours all contribute.
The searches reaching those pages are specific and high-intent: "rondvaart yerseke zeehonden" at position 3.0, "zeehondensafari yerseke" at 4.8, and "rondvaart met lunch zeeland" at 5.7.
At an average position of 28.3 there is still a lot of headroom. Broad terms like "varen in zeeland" sit at position 12 against more than 1,300 impressions, so the next gains are available from traffic the site is already being shown for.
